Had an overheating problem on my P4 2.53Ghz which was due to the case I used to have. To solve to problem I took it back to the place where I bought it. They installed a new heatsink/fan for the cpu, which did not really improved it's temp. Lastly the change the case, with one with more airflow, which solved my problem. Before I took it to them my computer reported my internal clock is 2.53 and the max internal clock is 3.1 Ghz.

Since I got it back both gets reported as 2.53 Ghz.Did they change my CPU or did they lock my CPU Clock ?

Only things I can think of that they could have done. My computer no accepts NO overclocking at all. Windows just reboots everytime the clock is hight

I don't quite get what you mean ,P4s have their multiplier locked from the factory,so the shop can't of done that.
If your mbrd could set other FSB speeds before then it will still be able to now, unless it has a jumper to disable bios FSB settings.?

Sounds like maybe they've updated the bios & the bootup screen reports differently??
