i put the system in my sig together early this week. at first i could only run at 2.133gHz with 1.75 volts. anything higher would not work (and i didn't want to go above 1.75 volts with the stock heatsink). after 5 hours of prime95 i could run at that speed with default voltage. i could also run at 2.320GhZ at 1.75 volts! after another 5 hours of prime 95 i could run 2.320 at 1.55 volts! a couple days go by, some more prime95 is run, and i game a lot. i just discovered that i can seemingly run 2.48gHz at 1.65 volts fine! my ram is holding me back, though, as i have to set the active to precharge delay back to 6 from the setting of 5 that i was running it at at an FSB of 600. in the nature test the cpu seems to clock throttle (my FPS goes from 45, which i get at 2.32 and 2.4 gHz, to 35 at some points), and my temps (measured with motherboard monitor 5) are about 65 degrees when i get out of 3dmark. i am getting an AVC sunflower and some arctic silver3 on tuesday, and i think 2.48 should be absolutely fine with that heatsink. does anyone else know how much the active to precharge delay speed for the ram affects anything, speed wise? all the other ram settings are the most aggressive (cas 2, cas to ras, and everything but the active to precharge delay are set to the fastest settings).
all hail mighty CPU burn in!
