lol c'mon, not only is that clearly a GPU limited resolution and IQ setting, but those results are most likely due to lack of frame buffer.

I would have agreed, except a single 4870 outputs 43.9fps. The 14 frame loss also seems too high to conclude a "crossfire overhead." Therefore, I am guessing it's a driver issue.

I was basing my opinion on original UT3 Anandtech's article. It could just be EPIC that patched the game to use more than 2 cores in the later analysis Anandtech did.

Don't blame Anand for your errors. If you want to run around ?correcting? people it's your job to make sure your information is up to date.

Kind of like you have no evidence to suggest CPU is bottlenecking in 1920x1200 resolution with 4850 in mass effect.

Sure we do. We can see a 6.67 times increase in pixels results in less than 25% performance drop. Let me know if there's anything you don't understand about this and I'll try to explain a little simpler.

ok, so. anyone has oblivion and flight sim X? both of these were reported as CPU abusers here, so lets get some testings done. If you have quad core, both with and without core affinity, otherwise, just checking difference in performance across resolutions, and posting your results. The max ms it took to render a single frame is also welcome.

Unsure if you want this, and I havent delved too deeply into it unless its something worth it's weight. However I play EQ2 which is single threaded and dosent use CF. I have a e8400 3.825ghz with 4870CF.

Next to highest setting, Very high Quality, I hit high 90% range, sometimes 100%, on the cpu in Qeynos harbor which is a city with alot of players and NPC. GPU is low 40% range.

I go to the next highest setting, which is the highest period of Extreme Quality, and the GPU hits full load staying roughly 94-99%. FPS in this game coming from a 8800GT 512 with everything else in the system the same is much better with the 4870. On the 8800GT i would hit single digits very easily on extreme quality in qeynos harbor. I often stay, running above 20 with the 4870. This is min FPS in one of the most intense places in the game for the system. Out in the field on highest setting I constantly got 60+ FPS with the 4870.

I am still new to the resolution differences allowed with CCC. I am used to ntune and my custom resolutions. Took me awhile to get the ones i wanted to stick on this one without the screen going nuts. I will try and change them around and see what happens.
