Cpu bottlenecking my computer?

im running a 3.0ghz p4 1mb cache 800fsb, 2gig Pqi pc4200 ddr2, geforce 7800gt, 250gb 8mb cache hd. is the cpu bottle necking my cpu? as im only getting around 30-35 fps on max settings on fear using AA8x S and 16x AI 20-25fps on it and on doom 3 at ultra quality 30-35f AA8x S and 16x AI getting 35-30fps is this normal?

What resolution do you game at? 8xAA is nothing to sneeze at. I'd back it down to 4 and see if that changes things for you.

It's not your CPU, it's your settings. FEAR is extremely demanding of hardware. Check out some recent GPU reviews that include FEAR in the benchmarks; nothing short of SLI could run those settings with decent FPS.

Turn down (or off) AA and AF, or lower your resolution.

im running it on 1024 x 768, with vsynch on it . i lowered it and it gave me way better fp

video card is the bottleneck. plus your settings are wack.

fear really is not a big cpu hog at all even with all the physics cranked up.

Yep, in your setup its more of a gpu bottleneck problem than a cpu problem.

you are expecting way too much from your 7800. lower the settings, fear is demanding.

Yep FEAR is probably the most demanding yet especially with 8x on.
