CPU Bottleneck?

Hey guys, I am planning on getting a 7800GTX or GT haven't decided yet in about a month or so... anyway, I will have an overclocked 3000 venice running it. Will the CPU really be the bottleneck for a NON-SLI 7800GTX?

thanks in advance

ANY cpu WILL cpu bottleneck a 7800GTX, especially when you SLI them.

These video cards tend to run at their full potential when you use 1600x with 4aa/8af.

They can even handle 1900x with some aa/af possibly.

- If you cant play at 1600x or 1900x, yes, you will be bottlenecked, just like 6800U SLI is.

- Yes, this applies to everyone.

Is this a good thing?

It is for some people, people with large monitors can play at 1600x which looks superior to 1280x etc.

It won't be a "problem" either way. You just won't be using the card to it's full potential. I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing... just means when you upgrade your processor you'll see some nice gains in the graphics department too.

If that means 1600x or 1900x, your good to go.

It should run at its potential there.

1600x or 1900x will look a lot better than 1280x, dont be afriad to crank up the aa/af at those settings either.
