Would a 6800GT be bottlenecked by a Intel P4 of 2.4G's with 512 RAM? Also it would have to run at AGP 4x. Would this be any different then running it at AGP 8x? Would the performance be much difference.

If the card would be bottlenecked what would you suggest?

Yes it would be bottlenecked by a 2.4. I suggest getting a 6800nu or a 6600GT, They should be a better match, unless you can overclock your cpu.

I hope not.......

I believe an xp-m at 2.6 is equal to a athlon 64 3000+ so... mabe just a little.

Depends on what resolution you play - Your cpu will be slowing you down if you play at low resolutions (lower than 1024x768), and the video card will be slowing you down at 1280x1024 and higher. If you plan on playing high resolutions with aa/af and all possible quality settings on high, then a 6800 gt/ultra will be much faster than a 6800 or 6600gt on a 2.4ghz p4 system.

An extra 512mb ram will also help a lot with game loading times and disk-caching.

The 6800gt would definantly lose a few frames from the slower cpu, but its still a lot faster than having a lower end video card. You could minimize this by setting sound detail to "low" in games, or perhaps getting an Audigy and have it do the work.

Would you happen to be BrutalDrew from the OCForums?
