CPU and motherboard temps

I'm starting to run at higher voltage on my p3 now and the temp has gone from 31C at default 700mhz to 950mhz @ 1.75v with temps running at 36C for the cpu and 32C for the motherboard at idle. The CPU runs up to about 42 under stress. I'm thinking about seeing if this CPU can do 1ghz..but i'm not sure how much is too much. A lot of people have increased voltage to 1.8-1.85, but I don't know how hot their cpu is running at now.

BTW, how accurate is the temperature monitor on motherboards? I'm running on an Asus CUSL2 and using the Asus Probe monitoring software that came with the board. Are these temps below/above/accurate to the real temp??

the asus probe has been known to lie, but mine doesnt. Anway, just go into bios and check it there, that would be the most accurate, if the temps in bios is about what asus probe states, then it most likely is correct. Those temps are a bit hot. My p750@892 1.7v runs from 29-31 idle, and 39 at the absolute highest.

My P3 866 cC0 using Artic Silver, PEP66 w/Sunon 23cfm, on Asus CUSL2--MBM 5.03 temps:
@866 MB 25-26C IDLE, CPU avg 30-32C idle MAX 38C
@903 MB 25-26C IDLE, CPU avg 31-33C idle MAX 39C

I tried using Rain 2.0 to bring down my idle temps, but there was no change--it made a big difference on my old P3B-F w/slot 650. I could probably bring the temps down if I switched to a higher output fan.

CUSL2 + MBM and hte CUSL2-Asus 2 probe reading are perfectly accurate.

The diode isn't calibrated, but you get the full measure of temp differences.

hey mikewarrior, does MBM read from the same source as the Asus Probe? I'm not sure if I'm setting the sensors on the MBM correctly. I'm running on an Asus CUSL2 motherboard, so I'm using something labeled Asus2 (CUSL2) in the settings as my motherboard temp since it matches the temp in Asus Probe. Am I doing all this correctly?

It just seems like both MBM and Probe are reading from the same source, except Probe keeps alarming every 10 minutes of some sort of spike in fan speed, temperature, or voltage. MBM doesn't catch any of this, so is this something that MBM is not catching or is the Probe just buggy?

probe tends to be buggy...

for mbm: the asus2-cusl2 setting should be set for cpu diode readings. MB temp is asus 1, and asus3 is the header for an additional thermsitor.
