CPU and Memory benchmarking?

Haven't kept up too much with PCs the last 3 years or so but I need to do some benchmarking on a system I'm putting together.

Is there a free benchmark suite that will do a reasonable job at letting my compare CPU and memory configurations?

Back in the day I used to use Scisoft Sandra but I'm not sure what to use now.

everest, not free. sandra. pc wizard as well, may not be as good.
