CPU and Case issue

I got a couple of questions.

I just recently bought a Gigabyte 8knxp motherboard and so far I like it. I also bought an Intel 2.8 GHZ (533 FSB) processor. I got the motherboard to run and I left all the settings in the BIOS set to AUTO. I don't plan on overclocking at this time, but may do that down the road. In the BIOS there is a section for Frequency/Voltage Control and under there there is a line that says CPU Host Frequency (MHZ). When I look at it, it reads 100. I think, but not positive that the CPU Clock Ratio is 21x. That line doesn't show up in the BIOS, as it is shown in the manual, but I think I saw the 21x somewhere. My questions is the FSB running at 400, 533 or 800 MHZ? How can I tell what the FSB is running at? I will be installed the OS and the other utilities over the weekend. Memory shows 333. Also when I boot up, the system is seeing the 2.8 and reading it as a 2.8. Also CPU temperature is 43C

Second question, is that I also bought a Thermaltake Xaser III v1000a and I really like this case. It comes with the fan speed controlers and a probe that is suppose to connect to the bottom side of the processor. Well the probe is so big that I can't place it on the bottom. I tried it on the top and it caused the CPU to heat up to 75C or higher. So I took it off and have placed it on the heat sink. Now when I look at the bottom number on the display for temperature, it gives me one of two readings. One is like LLL and the other is just dashes. I'm wondering if the probe is too dirty from the tape that I used or if that is telling me that something isn't connected correct? Also if the probe needs to be cleaned, what do you suggest I clean it with and then where to put the probe so that I can get a CPU temperature reading.

Thanks for the help

For you 1st question: Use this program CPUZ or WCPUID by H ODA. I would recommend WCPUID if it'll let you d/l it. They don't let me for some reason :(

This program ran in Windows will show your actuall CPU speed and your FSB speed. For the CMOS part, could you change the FSB setting or would you have do an extra step or two to be able to change the FSB setting? I'm thinking it's Gray'd Out (like when Windows gray's out 'Apply') so you can't change it until you change another option. It's just happens to show 100 MHz FSB and not the true 133 MHz, if any of that makes sense.

Thanks for the reply. I checked last night and now the FSB is saying 133, so I figure that it's running at 533. So that seems to be taken care of. I will have to check this information when I get my system loaded on Saturday. I still have a lot of installing to do over the weekend. :D

I don't know if you can help me with the other problem, but I guess that I need to clean the probe and then reinstall it with say scotch tape. So we will see what happens.

Thanks.

If you didn't know, the P4 is quad-pumped on the FSB, sends 2 signals on the up clock and 2 on the down clock. 133 MHz FSB x 4 = 533 Mhz.

I'm not at all familar with that heatsink or P4 motherboards, free bump.
