When CPR is performed and the victim is on the bed, with the CPR practitioner giving mouth to mouth and compressions on the bed.

This is not how its done.

You can't perform CPR properly unless the victim is on the ground, solid stable ground.

I routinely perform CPR to vicitims on water beds.

They adversely affect my enjoyment of a movie. Honestly, some of these shows have multimillion dollar budgets. They can't afford to send one guy to a CPR class so it can be done properly on screen?

Bateluer, things like that really make a movie unwatchable to you? You need to get over yourself.

You are right, but very infrequently are all the tools necessary to perform CPR correctly. Not everyone is going to carry around a bag valve mask or a pocket face mask to avoid mouth to mouth. And very rarely are they going to have access to a board to place under the victim to conduct CPR. In real life, paramedics and EMTs do not do things like their taught in class all the time, mostly its improvising to get the job done.

You are right though, what really bothers me is how the screw up the ratios, they usually do like 5 compression and 1 breath, and its really a compression ratio of 30:2. That does bother me

I was more annoyed when the hacker in Transformers modified that "computer" (read: monitor) to send morse code through an old radio console, complete with graphical interface, in about 3 minutes.

Yes, given Hollywood's obsession with realism and fine attention to detail in all other aspects of movies, this comes as a huge shock.

Well considering they change the ratios all the time, breaths are now not recommended by American Red cross. Only compressions. So even your numbers are inaccurate.

That is true, every place can have different numbers, but as an EMT in MD our protocols dictate 30:2 compression to breath ratio with defibrillation.

You have to learn to perform CPR underwater in rescue diving class.

They cut the 'dude, we need to find a hard surface to give this guy proper CPR, STAT!' from the final reel. For time constraints.

How long does it take to pull the person of the bed onto the floor?
