I've never used a CPL filter before, and I just ordered one for my labor day weekend Hawaii trip. I've read about how to use a CPL on the web and I know it's landscapes under bright sunlight. My question is, should I use a CPL during a beach wedding for taking photos of ppl under bright sunlight?
 
it will help to reduce glare at the beach and enhance the sky, depending on angle with the sun. did you buy a quality filter though? the cheapo cpl filters will actually make your picture worse...
 
I bought a Hoya (the cheaper non-coated one), and my lens already has a Hoya HMC UV filter. So using a CPL for closeups with ppl at the beach won't make them look bad right?
 
i dunno about the non-coated cheap CPL. typically CPLs are not used for people closeup shots and it might not help with much in that aspect.

don't stack the CPL on top of the UV filter though. sometime it can be a real pain to separate the two later.
 
CPL filter ONLY work 90 degrees from the sun... will they are the MOST effective 90 degrees. it has to do with the polarizing element in the filter. Of course, it'll reduce lots of reflections too 🙂
 
Thanks, Finbarqs - your note told me what a CPL was. I'm not a tweeter - I still use circular polarizer. <LOL>
