CPDN

I was running this for about 48 hours but then I aborted it. However, I see some credits rolling in now from CPDN. Is this a bug? How is this happening when I didn't complete a WU?

The climate projects work on a trickle system, where you get credit every few hours on a really long work unit.

As Strebor said.
Could you please tell us why did you abort?
Any problems? This project is quite sensitive to overclocking, high CPU-temperatures, etc.

Well, if he's crunching with the system in his sig, I can see why he aborted it. Guess you didn't think a CPDN would take that long to crunch. Am I right? 😉

Well, there are new, shorter WUs that should take only some hundreds of hours to crunch. 😛

I was running a 400 hour WU. Anyway, I saw two CPDN processes running and was going to play a game and I thought it was because I opened two boinc manager windows by accident. So I killed the processes and ended up messing up the WU.

I'm crunching Einsten@Home right now and I started up CPDN again but it gave me a 2000 hour work unit to crunch so i aborted it because I wanted one of the 400 hour ones. But now it just says "Communication deffered 24:00:00" and it's counting down. Is there any way to set it up so it only gives me the 400 hour ones?

Go into your Project-specific CPDN-preferences, and choose the 22-day-HADSM3-model... 😉

Not sure if the "15-day" HADAM3-model is really faster or not, but it will use upto 500 MB memory, and depending on cpu-speed it can take more than 1 hour between checkpoints.

BTW, CPDN always runs 2 processes, there is one "wrapper-like" that normally sits at zero cpu-time, except some file-uncompressing 1st. time start model, and some processing between each 15-year (?) -sub-part. Also, the screensaver will use this "wrapper". 99% of cpu-time is used by the "main" CPDN-application...
