Ok, here's the deal. I have the Cox @Home service with the cable modem stuff. I have the Toshiba External Cable Modem. I have a hub and regular Cat-5 cables. I wanna know how to network my computers without having to pay for a new IP address. I have 2 NICs in the main computer. In the other computer I just have 1 NIC. I also need to know exactly what I need to have in my list of things in my Control Pannel: Networking. This is my second time networking, first time with a cable modem. If you can help, THANKS! E-mail is philoconn@yahoo.com I pretty much need some pretty detailed answers for this one folks. Thanks a lot. Also, what would be the best way to do this? Just nework and share internet or get a router?

Hi Little McPhil,

I have the same problem. I have Cox@Home, with two computers which are networked (over a phone line connection). I have tried to install internet connection sharing, but then my cox connection doesn't seem to work.

Please let me know if you have any luck.

My email is:skwassman@home.com.

Thanks.

Go here and read

Now if you already have the the 2 nics installed it is just a matter of turning on ICS. This depends on what OS you are using. If it is Win98 SE then you need to install it from the Control panel, add/remove programs and Windows setup. If it is Windows ME click on Home Networking Wizard. If it is Win2K click on "Sharing" under the cable modem's NIC properties. It is very simple to do and I think with a little research on your own you will have it all figured out.

Also read these forums. This has been asked many times and I think you should be able to find the answers to your questions on your own.

Hope some of this helps.

Thanks a lot guys. This will help a lot. I have the D-Link 10MB Phone Line Network In A Box. Hopefully I'll be able to get this one to work out. Once again, thanks.

Hi.

I have Cox@Home and the Intel phoneline network system and it works fine (but I had to switch from Intel's Internet Sharing software to Windows Internet Connection Sharing software because of a bug in the Intel product.

For e-mail and newsgroup purposes you will have to put the full name of the server in rather than just "mail" or "news".
