With Cox, expect to spend the first three or so months to fix their screwups.

Their HSI isn't too bad... outages are still every now and then for a few minutes which really pisses me off when I'm playing Half-Life.

Cox are morons. I've moved twice, and each time it was the same nightmare. They shut down my email accounts and blocked all my premium channels, so I had to spend an hour on the phone trying to get them back each time. They can shut them off with one keystroke, but getting them back on takes 3 days and a special tech. And the first time I moved they shut down my modem and boxes at 1:30 AM on a Friday because nobody explained how the billing changes when you move. I got no warning about a late bill, nothing but a sudden disconnect. I've been paying these bastards $100 a month for 6 years and they shut me off for a 10 day unpaid balance of $25. And since it was a Friday night I couldn't do anything until Monday.

And as long as I'm ranting, why does every Cox person who comes to my house deem it necessary to point out that their RG-6 is better than the cables I bought myself? That may be so, but the last time I needed some cables there wasn't a Cox truck parked conveneintly in my driveway. Then they all try to engage me in a conversation about my computer, and it takes every ounce of my will to avoid just leaving the room while they bumble through some story about the machine they have at home. Argh.

yeah, i dont let those guys in my house.

oh, and its costs 20 bucks to send a guy out here with a channel filter so i cant get all the channels, just the ones i pay for...nevermind that he didnt put a filter on, but terminated my service, for which i probably wont get any credit, in addition to me not having cable today, probably tomorrow, and perhaps this weekend judging by the fact it took them three days to get someone out here in the first place.

oh, and nevermind that 30 minutes after i said "hey, i dont have cable, your guy screwed it up" a serfice truck drove RIGHT PAST MY DAMN HOUSE, so i called their office...and they didnt do anything. for instance, they could have called the truck, told him to turn around, and fix me...bastards

I have Cox and I am happy with them so far. 3 - 4 outages in 10 months. The cable guy gave me a free NIC and splitter :D
When I needed service (modem crapped out) the service kinda sucked though. Had to stay home between 12 - 5 PM and he came 4.50 PM and was about to leave because he could not fix the modem but I insisted he checked the van and WOAH a spare!!.

They have a 30Gb dl limit? Did not know that.

Speed is consistent about 2000/275 :D

They are pretty good over here in Orange County, CA. Although service/reliability varies greatly depending where in OC you are located.

Really? He just ignored them? But their monitoring program is stooopid. LAST month is when my brother and I hit the 30gb cap and recieved no warning. It was only during around the 7th that e-mails came in warning they would shut down our service if we did not reduce our bandwidth usage. But it's funnay, bandwidth and data are two different things.

I have Cox.. it beats the alternative... in my case the telephone for internet and off the air antenna for some tv... grandson has direct tv hookup in his room and hates it... at $65 a month... we have 4 computers hooked up via router and never have a problem.. we do have fiber optic in my area though...
