Cox and AT&T follow on with the Time Warner trend

Reminds me of what I told everyone a few years ago. Do you really want your cable company for an ISP?
 
Doesn't this go against everything that phone/internet is based on? We started with phones being charged per minute I believe, then went to unlimited local with per minute long distance. Now you can get unlimited long distance with certain providers. Then on to cell phones... They started with per minute charges, and recently are moving to unlimited local calls with free long distance for a dcertain number of minutes. Internet was also the same way. It started with companies like AOL charging per minute/hour, then they went unlimited. Now the only ISP access you can get is unlimited per month (over a phone line)

Finally we have cable access. It started as unlimited at a high price. The prices came down a bit and more people picked up on it. Now they are both raising prices and instituting a monthly limit. I wonder if I can get DSL around here 😕
 
I wonder if this includes my area... Were on Cox Express but ours is partially affiliated with the University...
 
The speed caps are no surprise, it's usage caps that I dislike (despite the fact that I would probably never exceed them).

Thankfully I don't see anything in either article that indicates that Comcast is implementing usage caps (... yet).
 
Why is this such a bad thing? If you're not downloading much, then go with a cheaper plan....

The low cost lunch has ended... Get over it, get used to it, and get on with life...
