Yeah, I understand dangerous but decently paying jobs, but dangerous jobs for minimum wage just doesn't make sense. Maybe if there was a ton of overtime so that overtime was a significant part of your salary, but even then...
 
Very sad.

I have only known people who died of natural causes, have committed suicide or died in vehicular accidents. I don't think I have known anyone who has been murdered.


Why are we being coy with the victim's name/links to stories when they are easy to find?

That's absolutely terrible. Something similar happened to the sister of my co-worker. Her crazy ex-husband killed her and her 3 kids. It's been over a year and the office is still expressing sympathy for him and his family.
 
I didn't post links because I wasn't trying to sensationalize the story and, I must admit, I likely never would have posted anything except it's easy to tell what I do for work and where I do it based on the healthcare reform thread in P&N and I figured someone would put 2 and 2 together at some point.

Why not? Am I not allowed to reference Sandy Hook? ER is displaying extreme disregard for human life; everyone talks about how the warning signs were there for the type of people who commit Sandy Hook style crimes, but nobody ever did anything about it. Maybe we need to report ER to somebody.
 
Sorry to hear that. An accquaintence I worked with at an internship was murdered in cold blood by his room mate's brother. And of course it was over something stupid as fuck.
