I don't mean to put our your guy's fire but I don't really want to get huge into anime. I just really liked Cowboy Bebop and really I didn't consider it ALL that anime. I mean I guess it is but compared to what I've seen in other stuff thats REAL anime it didn't seem like it at all. I might be wrong. But I was kinda just asking if there is any other show thats got the same kinda spin that Bebop does or the same style or something?

Sorry I'm being vague

Evangelion is over-rated...
rolleye.gif

There's nothing wrong with Dragonball(Z) either, someone has to provide the never-ending action anime.
Cowboy bebop is probably the best anime I've ever seen, it's all downhill from here :(

*edit* forgot to tell you, I heard a sequel to Cowboy Bebop is(was?) being made (an important part of the first story will of course be missing...)

*edit* sorry, I can't find any links and I heard it a long time ago, it could just be a rumor.

Why did they quit making the show. It seems like it stayed good and the storyline was made to where it could go on for much longer?

Don't read my next comment on this unless you've seen the whole series, I comment on the end of the series

you did watch the last episode right? With the way they ended it, I highly doubt they could continue, that whole not having a main character and all. The movie takes place during the series at some time, not after, Spike doesn't survive the fight against Vicious. Most anime series's are designed to not go beyond 26 episodes, even if they are popular.

As far as what anime to watch, Berserk is my favorite series. And recently I saw and absolutely loved Now and Then, Here and There.

As many suggested, Evangelion is a great series, a bit confusing towards the end, but still good. And Kenshin is great too, if you choose to watch Kenshin, first watch the OVA's, known in the US as Samurai X

yes I realized THAT but I was just curious why they didn't let the show go one longer before airing that last 2 part series. I mean the show was SOO good and I'm sure they could have kept it going for much longer, with or without the backstory. I don't know, I guess I'm just not used to 1 season shows but if thats how anime is.....

there area only a few anime's that are I've seen that are longer than one season. DBZ is one, Kenshin is another. Most conform to the 13 or 26 episode standard though.

Trust me then, watch Rurouni Kenshin. Watch the OAV's actually first (Samurai X) and then watch the series. It's going to be long and you're going to have lots of sleepless nights because you don't want to stop. I'm not a hardcore anime fan, I've only watch probaly liek 5 full series, and like 8 or so movies and I don't fidn anythign else appealing. A lot of people liek the comedy love stories liek Love Hina and Ah My Goddess but I find them appaling. But just trust me on Kenshin for sure. :D It's what really got me to respect anime, instead of that Dragonball cr@p thats put out there. :p In fact, I have several anime series (the ones I mentioned) and the movies/OAV's stored on my linux box. I can possibly hook you up with some if you need to.

No problem -- except for Trigun, the series/movies I suggested are all science fiction, serious, and more realistic than most anime (little or no super-deformed faces, no slapstick comedy, no giant sweat drops). Trigun has a serious underlying story but is guilty of SD, slapstick, and sweatdrops :)

Ebichu and FLCL and Cowboy Bebop and Spirited Away :D

I didn't particularly didn't like Eva, the beginning was good, but come on GIANT COLORED ROBOTS. The huge gigantic funny colored fighting robots just ruined from the start.

Also, Eva was chock full of religious imagery that didn't fit together. It seemed that the producers wanted to fill in the gaps of the story with "mystic" and "religious" crap that kept us wondering why.... The religoius imagery totally blew, not only did they not fill together, but there was never a reason to have that imagery.

Then the angels are pretty much stuff pulled out of an asshat, the story never goes beyond explaining that they're part of something and that they're tying to get back to something. I'm like... uh ... tell us already. The ending pissed me off too, I'm like, that's it? I sat through THAT many episodes just to have THAT ending? I watched them both and was equally disappointed. Bah, Eva's just an overhyped jap-pop series.

Too many loose ends for my tastes.

The 1st one comes to my mind is Outlaw Star. I actually like it better than Cowboy Bebop.
