The Governor fucked himself & the citizenry in pandering to the contrarians back in April-

Feel the Freedumb. Can't make me. Fuck you, Libtards.

He should’ve at least done what DeSantis just did—hold a public health roundtable of experts and citizens to discuss the merits of masking…only everyone is a hand-picked anti masker (and no press allowed inside). Then announce that everyone agrees Florida doesn’t need a mask mandate and CYA.

Of course, he will never know, as he didn't hang for a year to see what effects might occur... including surviving a year.

Good God this is so sad. The gov't has got to 'flood the zone' with informational advertising on the vaccine. And not the stupid scare your parents one I've been seeing on YouTube.

Sadly predictable. Florida set a new record for highest cases in a day since the start of the pandemic. Just when this should be under control.

I can't adequately put into words how reprehensible DeSantis has been, actively thwarting measures to protect citizens so he can court the Trumpkin vote. It should be unbelievable that any government official would actively undermine attempt to stop the spread of a dangerous virus.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has resisted mandatory mask mandates and vaccine requirements, and along with the Florida Legislature, has limited local officials' ability to impose measures meant to stop the spread of COVID-19.

I agree 100% about DeSantis. His actions regarding protection of the people have abominable and , to top it all off, there's his selling of merchandise mocking Dr. Fauci.

My county's statistics - new cases and hospitalizations - are through the roof . The one item of good news in it all is that we have had zero deaths since the beginning of June. I hope that can continue.

Some covidiot asked my wife if she really had to wear her mask, at the grocery store yesterday. Yes, because you won't, she says.
He makes some other numbskull comment about it being fake. She would have been better off ignoring him.
I think this goes right along with her being a woman and him being a sexist shitheel, as well as stupid. Nobody says shit to me. They might give me a touch of side eye, but they are not brave enough to open their piehole because *I* might be a knuckle dragger who would be all to happy to shut it for them.
I certainly would be all too happy to remind them to MYOB.

I'm not sure why I wear a mask when I go shopping. Now that this cretiinous government has suspended all the legal obligations related to masks and social-distancing (yet my doctor's surgery is still closed and I can't get an appointment with an endocrinologist - health care doesn't make profits, on the contrary, it involves government spending, so it all remains closed).

Partly it's just in case I have something and risk passing it to others, but I doubt I do have COVID, really it is a kind of symbol, unavoidably, it's a way of expressing the hope that everyone else will wear one. Of doing as you would be done by, Kant's categorical imperative made cloth. This stupid government has created an unnecessary war of symbols.

buy yourself some n95 or n99’s. Then the mask protects you and them. Or buy one with the air valve then it just protects you - if your feeling a little FYGM to those who can’t be bothered to help themselves and others.

Because you don't want to catch CV-19? Vaccine offer some protection, masks provide some protection. Both together is better than either alone. Especially with highly contagious Delta circulating. When the vaccinated catch it, they apparently have a similar viral load as the unvaccinated, suggesting they may be just as contagious as the non-vaccinated:

The viral load was similar in people who were fully vaccinated and those who were unvaccinated, the CDC said.

High viral loads suggest an increased risk of transmission and raised concern that, unlike with other variants, vaccinated people infected with Delta can transmit the virus, it said.

I hope that's the case. Mainly I rely on shopping as quickly as possible, get in and get out again as quickly as I can. Makes it hard to compare the prices of items though, dammit!
I shop my groceries online and pickup for free in the parking lot.

Seems like some smart lawyers might be able to find some of these murderers negligent on this whole deal at some point.

A doctor tells her covidiot story.

I am angry that the tragic scenes of prior surges are being played out yet again, but now with ICUs primarily filled with patients who have chosen not to be vaccinated. I am angry that it takes me over an hour to explain to an anti-vaxxer full of misinformation that intubation isn’t what “kills patients” and that their wish for chest compressions without intubation in the event of a respiratory arrest makes no sense. I am angry at those who refuse to wear “muzzles” when grocery shopping for half an hour a week, as I have been so-called “muzzled” for much of the past 18 months.

I cannot understand the simultaneous decision to not get vaccinated and the demand to end the restrictions imposed by a pandemic. I cannot help but recoil as if I’ve been slapped in the face when my ICU patient tells me they didn’t get vaccinated because they “just didn’t get around to it.” Although such individuals do not consider themselves anti-vaxxers, their inaction itself is a decision — a decision to not protect themselves or their families, to fill a precious ICU bed, to let new variants flourish, and to endanger the health care workers and immunosuppressed people around them. Their inaction is a decision to let this pandemic continue to rage.

And meanwhile, immunocompromised people, for whom vaccines don’t generate much immunity, are desperately waiting for herd immunity. I have no way to comfort my rightfully outraged transplant patients who contracted COVID-19 after isolating for over a year and getting fully vaccinated as soon as they could. With angry tears, these patients tell me it’s not fair that there are people who are choosing to endanger both themselves and the vulnerable people around them. They feel betrayed by their fellow citizens and they are bitter and angry. I cannot blame them.

I am at a loss to understand how anyone can look at these past months of the pandemic — more than 600,000 lives lost in the U.S. and more than 4 million worldwide — and not believe it’s real or take it seriously. But the unhappy truth is that there are people who do not. They did not in the beginning and many are doubling down now.

I thought when this pandemic began that we were all in this fight together, engaged in a war against a common enemy. Now, I painfully realize: Perhaps we were never on the same side and we never had a common enemy. Perhaps the war has been among ourselves all along. We have won many battles but unvaccinated America is choosing to let COVID win the war.

And then we have mr 'I'm the biggest covidiot of them all' gaetz.

This is some delicious irony. South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem says workers who don't want to work for employers mandating vaccinations should find other jobs.
Conservatives are hilariously upset that she won't ban vaccine mandates. (I happened upon this site through one of those news aggregator things built into opera)

1) what happened to small government not dictating what businesses do?
2) where are those bootstraps?

To be fair to this twat, she isn’t telling a business what to do. she is telling employees they can find another job that doesn’t require a vaccine/mask.

I just thank gawd that Americans had a brain during the polio epidemic. Otherwise we'd still be battling polio as well. Or should I say battling the polio deniers and antiVaxxers. I don't know where America went wrong? We once believed in the common cause like eliminating polio and fighting WWII Hitler and protecting ones neighbors from harm. Now it's don't trust the government, don't trust science, don't trust vaccines, and screw your neighbors let them die. Selfish and ignorance rules the day. And it only took Donald Trump four years.... four years..... four short years..... Scary how only four short years can tear down 200 years of progress.

Lol not like it's uniquely an American thing to be so ignorant. Lucky it's in single digits the antivaxxers here in Canada. After the US, I'd say Germany or UK would be next in having the most protesting vaccine and mask mandates. Didn't know so many protests in France with Macron's vaccine passport order. Oddly with Bolsonaro, I'd thought vaccine scepticism would be much higher in Brazil. They apparently have one of the highest annual vaccination rates in the world.

A common theme among the unwashed/unvaccinated idiot posters online: "I'm not getting the vaccine, I've done the research" lol. Okay, so you have a 1.1% chance of getting the virus if you're already vaccinated so it's a bad move statistically versus not getting the vaccine. Got it.
