On Monday, a doctor in a Birmingham, Alabama, hospital, Brytney Cobia, said that all but one of her Covid patients at Grandview medical center didn’t receive the vaccine, with the one who had expected to make a full recovery after receiving oxygen, she told the Birmingham News. Several others are dying.

“I’m admitting young, healthy people to the hospital with very serious Covid infections,” wrote Cobia in a Facebook post on Sunday.

“One of the last things they do before they’re intubated is beg me for the vaccine. I hold their hand and tell them that I’m sorry, but it’s too late,” she added, referring to patients who have to be put on a ventilator.

Alabama public health officials recently reported 96% of Alabamians who have died of Covid since April were not fully vaccinated.

Among the people succumbing to the deadly disease are those who are increasingly catching the Delta variant of the coronavirus, which is far more contagious than the original.

The variant now makes up 83% of new cases in the US, according to Walensky.

“This is a dramatic increase, up from 50% for the week of July 3,” she said.

In Louisiana, only 36% of eligible people have been vaccinated.

Sorry for these children but what were the parents thinking?

550 children, about half aged 7-11 and half aged 12-17 go to a sleepaway camp. All but 4 of the older group were vaccinated. Zero positives in that age group. 31 positives so far in the younger group. Why would you send your child who isn't vaccinated to live, play, eat and sleep with over 200 other unvaccinated children? 275 staff with fewer than 10 unvaccinated - 1 or more is too many.

Thinking? You gave them too much credit already.

That boy is a contrarian piece of work, huh? I must grant there's been some subtlety in the anti-vax effort. They flood the zone with shit & then tell people to do their research before they get vaccinated. I mean, you know, as if there's anything to figure out at this point, or in the first place, either. Over 165 successful vaccinations in the US should allay all but the most irrational fears, but you wouldn't know that from the way Fox frames it.

This new delta variant looks to be a real problem among low-vax local & regional populations. It's apparently a lot more contagious, and of course there are no restrictions, no masks, no nothing in those places. The fact that part of the population is vaccinated just slows down the exponential doubling tendency. It's not everywhere quite yet so a lot of people can still blunt the effect by getting vaccinated ASAP.

are the covidiots winning? three states account for 40% of all new cases

combined, texas, florida, and missouri account for about 17.2% of the population. so yeah...they're batting about 2.5x above average. and not in a good way.

I don’t know if the covidiots will every wakeup. I fear newer and more deadly variants come this fall, and a major surge with the delta variant, and the covidiots are making this happen. Can’t we simply round them up and lock them up in camps like the Japanese during WWII? For the security of the nation? I’m around those deniers and antivaxxers all the time and they are so damn pig headed over one little shot, two little shots at most. What pisses me off is they are going to wreck everything for all of us. If they would just get vaccinated then we wouldn’t have variants or masks or cancellations of public events. DON’T THEY GET IT ??? Or is it they’d rather be the anti-American assholes that they are and be damn with everyone else.

It’s all on THEIR shoulders. It all comes down to THEM. Only them and nobody else. Those who believe in science and believe in vaccinations are not even part of this any longer. This is not about us at all…. not one tiny bit. It is all about them. The good and welfare of the nation depends entirely on them. They can’t blame us nor can they involve us…. us the vaccinated. “WE” are removed from the equation. What happens next, how bad this will get with the virus and the economy and the jobs and personal freedoms falls entirely on their shoulders.

If they get laid off, it’s their own fault. If the stores are empty of goods, all their fault. If we have no services or automobiles or no bible camps nor baseball games…. It’s all their fault and only their fault and nobody else.

Soo... Are republicans having second thoughts about callously letting their voters heads be filled with bullshit then dying?!

I don't expect it to last, they'll be back to "fake virus" at first drop off numbers.

Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey says the unvaccinated "are letting us down", while simultaneously rejecting federal assistance for vaccinations, signing a bill banning vaccine passports, and rejecting masks in school
Alabama has a vaccination rate below 40% and she referred to those as who were vaccinated as "regular" folks as opposed to the unvaccinated who were letting everyone down. Wonder how many of those "regular" folks voted for her vs % of the unvaccinated who did.

I am so fucking tired of predictable health crises because of leaders sticking their heads up their asses and refusing to lead when it fucking matters.

At this point it's endemic. People in these states not going to wake up tomorrow and say dam i really should go out and get vaccinated. At some point in the future, by end of the year probably, all health measures will likely end. Mask will become optional everywhere and it will be up to each individual to decide what they want to do.
