Covering up bottom of dishwasher & floor

Elixer

Lifer
On the old dishwasher, the bottom panel went all the way to the floor, and was black to match everything around it.
On the new dishwasher (whirlpool), there is a good size gap there (around 5" or so), where you can see all the tubes/wires & motor.

So, is there a part missing (if so, what is the name of that part?) or what exactly do you use to cover that area?

Isn't that the part you see below the door, directly above the yellow line?
That is the same type of design the old one had, but, the old one's was taller, it went all the way to the floor.

The kick plate in my experience meets the floor and is a vanity piece that provides a finished touch and hides the machinery. Kitchen cabinets also have kick plates

Toe kick not kick plate. I used a peice of baseboard with magnets glued to the back. Our used dishwasher did not cone with the metal plate.

My relatively new dishwasher $1100 also has this open space. I think if we had a baby crawling around it would certainly be dangerous. It does collect lots of dust and dirt in there.

Apparently, the part above the yellow line is the kick panel. Guy at the store said, that is how they are, and you just need to get some black trim to cover that area.

The old one was more like this

The guy at the store is full of crap IMO. I recently purchased a new dishwasher and it's kick plate goes all the way to the floor, well maybe an 1/8 inch gap at the bottom.

Exactly !

Go to the Whirlpool site and download the installation/user manual for your model.
It will show the access panel you are missing as one of the last items to be installed to complete the installation.
Print those pages, take 'em to store and raise cain.
All else fails, just call Whirlpool's 800 #, I've never had them be anything but helpful about missing or broken items on a new appliance.

Sounds like a plan.
