I found the coalition of groups that railed against this quit interesting. NRA, ACLU, Republican Party, AFL-CIO. You don't find these guys in bed too often on the same issue. That said, I am glad freedom of speech was protected today.

Wow a 1,600 page decision. Bet that puppy would put one to sleep at night.

Few reasonable people supported that legislation and this conclusion was no shocker.

What I find interesting is the more we try to regulate and control the campaign finance process the worse things appear to get.

You gotta be kidding. I'm not really keen on the 2nd part - The "ads" issue was a bit murky, and I agree that it seems a bit unconstituational. But putting limits on "soft" money? Personally, I think it's about time we stop letting politicians dangle in the pockets of large corporations and private individuals.

I think a reasonable cap should be allowed. This would force politicians to spend more time lending their ear to the desires of the average American, giving them more leverage against the rich minority.

Our constitution was designed to give a voice to the majority without ignoring the minority - But when it comes to the ears of politicians, it is the rich minority who benefits the most.

And this issue isn't just about Republicans. Democrats are just as guilty, if not more so, of being slaves to the soft money. That's a fact, not opinion.

I think more of them enter politics for less than honorable reasons today than in past times but not all of them are bad apples.

We're a part of the problem, too. We want to hear how they'll do everything for us and take care of us in times of need (and all other times as well if we'd just let them). We vote for the lies, over and over again. We're entertained by mud-slinging campaigns and vote against negatives instead of for positives. If we don't like our choice we vote for that other guy next time, oblivious to alternate candidates because they can't afford airtime, only to find the same pattern repeat itself.

The politicians are self-absorbed in the process of self-indulgence. They relish it.

But we're unware and want to believe it's not true and every time we tune our Boob Tube into any national news network we're fed a steady stream of data to convince us government is the end-all, be-all to life in America. It's nearly all they talk about, well apart from the important happenings in Hollywood, CA.

There must be something more under the covers. Sometimes I can't find it because I forget where to look. It's not as though they're hiding it from me, it's just that it's so slipperly at times. Nuts, change the channel.
