Also, I'd say the odds are (1/365)^2.

The first birthday is arbitrary. Only the other two are the important variables.

Assuming they were conceived around the same time, its probably more like the product of 2 gaussians (make the first one arbitrary as mrpickins noted) with similar means and a variance of a week or so.

In my family, we have 3 clusters of birthdays. My birthday is shared by my grandfather and one of my aunts. There are another two dates that have 3-4 people's birthdays in my family. Considering I have 11 aunts and uncles and 8 cousins on my mom's side alone I suppose its not too uncommon.

I wasn't being terribly accurate. I was just pointing out that the order of magnitude is off.

So, you have a twin sister! Your feelings have now betrayed her, too. Obi-Wan was wise to hide her from me. Now his failure is complete. If you will not turn to the Dark Side... then perhaps she will...

Also, if you look at the distribution of birthdays, they are very uneven. Its very weird. One day will be something like 1/150 and the next will be 1/500.

My daughter's birthday was 10/19 and she was 3 weeks over due
My son's birthday is 10/2

They both could have been born on the same day.

My dad said to my mom that I got my wife drunk every New Year's Eve and tried to knock her up. :)

My mom and stepmom were both born on Oct 14th, 10 years apart. And no, my dad didn't go younger ... my mom will be 45 and my step-mom will be 55 in a week.

The odds aren't that high. It just means the parents celebrate the New Year's with a vengeance.

I know someone with two children born on the same day, different years. Also my birthday and a couple of other people I know.

This is the right answer.

Assuming they like to get down and dirty on new year's eve, then it's just a product of 2 gaussians. I'd estimate the chances at something like 15%.

<--- Oct 2 baby as well :)

being born on 10/2 is nothing special - 9 months pregnancy: 10/2 - 9 = 1/2. It is all the result of drunken New Years f'ing.
