Azureus:
From time to time, I get an odd message about three times in a row from Azureus at random times. The 'quote' below is the message and my ipconfig /all. Can someone elaborate on the meaning of this? I don't get a response when I ping 192.168.1.100, and I don't think any PCs (or devices) use it. I have something called UPnP forwarding in my router settings (separate from port range forwarding), and I also disabled a service called Universal PnP in Windows's services (though this has happened long before I disabled it). In short, what is UPnP? In my router I have the port range 6881-6881 forwarded (TCP/UDP) to my IP (192.168.1.110). Is this correct for BitTorrent clients like Azureus? I have a cable modem, so I don't use PPP or PPPoE (I think).
Subnets:
I have a home network with about 5 PCs/5 notebooks. I'm unsure because the bulk of them are my dad's, but there are definitely not more than 10 total devices hooked up to the network. What should my (and their) netmask be? I have always set it to 255.255.255.0 for some reason, but I must have forgotten why. Do I get a (very minor) speed increase if I only set it to be something else (allocate less IPs)? Subnets split up a network, correct?
