couple questions about Oc'ing a DFI nforce4 Ultra-d board

my buddy just got this board with an athlon64 3000 and a gig of corsair XMS ram. i told hin i would help him overclock it, but we are running into problems.

i cant get the thing to boot over 250FSB. now, is the LTD setting the same as HTT? i set it to 3, and it still wont go over 250. i upped the voltage on the RAM, chipset, and CPU, and still no dice. and i have the RAM at a 3:4 ratio.

what could be going on? why cant this board get over 250?

lots of other chatter on this in the first 3 threads in this group... the 'auto' settings for memory don't seem to be real good... u need to sort out what the actual settings need to be and put them in...

and who knows, that may be your limit...

there are about a million different memory settings in bios, how am i supposed to know what to put for all of them?

and there is no way 250 can be the limit, thats a very poor OC

that's the rub with this board... u have to either have the memory that someone else has already sorted out (and be lucky) or work your way through... lunch ain't free on this one...

Are the timings on the RAM tight? If its BH-5 ICs, they dont like running dividers, you have to flash to this BIOS (3.10-2). I had problems running dividers until I flashed to this BIOS. I was also able to clock to higher RAM speed as well (270 FSB 1:1 c2-2-2-8 @3.6V)

IIRC, anything referring to "LDT" is talking about either the HTT frequency or the HT multiplier. (LDT stands for something like "Lightning Data Transport.")

With my Mushkin 4400 ram my board wouldn't evan boot into windows.
After setting the ram up with the settings at DFI-Street forums I'm running
9x285 with the ram running 1:1. I did need to put a fan on the ram due
to the close placement of the cpu heatsink. Is that TCCD ram? I could
post all my ram settings if you thought that would help.
