couple of questions about handgun permits and such

I was browsing my county website and it really didn't have any information on how to obtan a permit.

I think you have to be 21 to conceal and carry, and 18 to have a handgun permit? What's it cost? Whom can I call for more information?

I live in Hennepin county, I am moving to Minneapolis, so I want to be prepared 😉😉

plus I want to go to a gun range a shoot a handgun! Every man should know how.

Your sheriff's department will have more information for you.

 You might also need a gun safety course in order to get the concealed permit.

where can I sign up for one?

100 bucks to conceal and carry!

and you have to reapply for the license every 5 years it seems too.

Same thing here, 5 years is how long they are valid for, but they only cost $50 here where I live.

Some places will waive the class requirement if you were in the military, if you were, just bring your DD-214 with you and see if they will waive the requirement.

The local sheriff/police dept should be able to tell you where to get the class. They might even hold one at the dept. Yes, it normally requires a renewal for the concealed permit (believe its 5 years here in NC as well).

PA:

To purchase a gun:
No permit needed to purchase a gun from a dealer. Just a background check done by the gun shop.

Concealed carry permit:
Fill out application and provide a picture of yourself.
If you pass their checks, $19 for carry permit ($22 for laminated permit).

thats about it. but as others have said, it varies by state to state.

seems very easy, is that it? I want to get a handgun...any recommendations for a noob?

in minnesota you need a permit to purchase a handgun.
the permit is free, stop in your local police dept, and fill out the app for a permit to purchase.
you should get it in the mail in about a week (unless your a bad guy)

if you plan to get a concealed carry permit, you need to take a class. the classes are about $100
the concealed carry permit is also good as a permit to purchase.

when you purchase the handgun, the dealer also has to run a FBI background check. it only takes a few minutes
