I've got my queues up and running. But I need to "turn off" one of the queues over the weekend. (It should have enough wu's cached to satisfy the clients over the weekend.)

How do I do this? Will setting the starting and ending time effectively do this?

The second question relates to forwarding one queue through the other. That's working, but the stats on each queue are independent of the other. Can it be configured so that the "primary" queue (the one at home, which connects to Berkeley), keeps a record of wu's forwarded through it? I don't have access to the queue at school from home, so I cannot load up the port 5517 browser to check on how its doing unless I'm at school. Can the queue at school be seen as a "client" to the queue at home, so that when I view the stats on the queue at home I some clue as to what is happening on the queue at school?

As always, TIA. I should be putting up some good numbers for the TeAm before long. (I'm aiming for 2000+ wu's a week.)

Well, I may have answered one of my questions. There is a setting called "Report stats to SetiQ server." If I enable this on the queue at school, will the stats from the queue at school then show up on the queue at home? (I cannot test this just yet, but I'll be leaving for school shortly, and will be able to test it in an hour or two.)

I'm still wondering about how to stop the queue at school from uploading or downloading wu's over the weekend.

And maybe I've answered the question about turning setiqueue off over the weekend: disable "processing time" AND "override for empty queue."

Will that do it?

Bazilla,

If you go to the "web page" administration of the queue, you'll see a couple of settings like this:

Upload pending results enabled
Download new WUs enabled

Login to the queue from your browser, then go to the settings page and click on the "Edit Settings". You can then disable those two items and the queue will function, but will no longer send and receive WU's to the outside. You can login again and re-enable them at any time.

:)

Is this all I need to disable, or should I still disable the other two settings -- processing time and override for empty queues? It seems I should at least do the latter, or else SetiQ will download even with "Download new WUs" disabled. I think my queue will have enough wu's cached so that it is unlikely to be empty before I reenable uploads and downloads, but I'd like to be sure about it.

I still haven't figured out how, if possible, to have the stats of the school queue reflected in the stats of my home queue.

I think you're right on the override for empty queues. Also, I don't know how to make the stats pass from one to another! :(

Interestingly, when I disabled the two settings you mentioned, setiq warned me about the overrides, and set if I wanted complete manual control, to disable them too!

On the stats thing, maybe it isn't possible. At first, I thought that "Report stats to SetiQueue server" would do this, but I think that is to pass stats on to the developer's server.

I queued about 1000 wu's at school before shutting it down. I've got 70 crunchers working on these. I'll only have the queue offline about 48 hours, so that is more than enough to keep things moving. I should have some nice numbers to post -- 'er dump

Yeah tick 'manual connect' & untick the 2 overrides ,then it'll only flush when you tell it to.

'Report SETIQ stats to server' refers to this

Not sure if I understood you properly about SETIQ passing on stats, but if you mean whether 1 Q can pass on the stats on individual clients of a single account(internal Que) to another Q then no it can't:(.Only seperate Qs (email accounts) within the Q can.

If you're setting you will not download wu, of course it will never download wu, regardless of other settings. :)

And if you're disabling upload of results, you can save for a big dump... just remember backups is your friend.
