"It's history" is another way of saying it's been removed or in the past already. "That bug is history". By saying it's history you are saying it's already been removed, which is actually true considering the mistake of the godless coins. Of course, I also know what you meant, in that the text on the coin is part of our history. At least, that is my best guess based on skyscrapers comment.

If they want people to use dollar coins they need to follow the Canadian example and make them tactilely different than other coins so people can differentiate them from other coins in their pocket without having to examine them. They then have to set a date certain to stop making $1.00 bills and stick to it.

I believe that was one of their specific goals with the Saca... Indian girl dollar - to make it feel different from a quarter, unlike the Susan B. Anthony dollar. But more important is that they stop making $1 bills. Even if they have to increase production of $2 bills so people won't whine about having FOUR $1 coins in their pockets.
