When I was a teenager I likely would have chosen rap. But now I just can't stand most rap, everytime I turn on MTV I just get disgusted.
I don't even know any country stuff other than Willie Nelson but I figure singing and ACTUALLY PLAYING A FVCKING MUSICAL INSTRUMENT wins hands down.

Rap isn't that easy to produce. Dr. Dre makes some really good beats. Hell, I can listen to alot of his instumentals without any voiceovers all day long.

I think it's easier to make beats on a computer/synth/whatever than to actually play an instrument. Not to imply that it takes no talent to produce rap beats, it's just that I have more respect for 'live' musicians. Plus so much of the mainstream rap is just so fake and repetitive that I have no desire to hear it. To me it's in the same league as Britney Spears/Ashlee Simpson.

Just because its on a computer/synth doesn't make it easy. There are tons of ppl who try to make beats and they suck. The best rise to the top. Same as with ppl who play musical instrument. If live instruments is all that than every high school band in america would be making TOP 10 hits. I respect the ability to play live instruments, I use to play the trumpet in highschool..... but that doesn't mean I was gonna get big.... let alone the other band members.

Basically, those that master and hone thier skills at something can come up with amazing sounds. I was watching Apollo the other night and these two guys come out playing old school rap beats and new stuff too with only a VIOLIN! That was sick!

For you old cats, sick is good ;)

Alot of rap groups are also messing with live instruments as well, like Wyclef, the Beatnuts, etc.....

44 more votes than I expected for country music. I'd rather listen to white noise than country music. And sure, a lot of mainstream rap is pretty bad these days, but I could weed out some good songs and be set.

It depends. If it's Rock with Rap then I can handle it ex. Gorillaz. Even Cyrpress Hill and stuff like that I can handle. Country, well if it's not new country I don't mind it.

Both are better than the top 40 Boy Band Teeny Bop Girlie sh!t.

I'd rather sit through Lil Jon's worst songs (i.e. his chart-toppers) than any country

I would rather gargle with Clorox and razors than listen to country forever. Rap is so much more entertaining to me, especially old skool when it was more about lyrical skill than talking about ho's, ice and cars.

gangsta rap, beotch!

Seriously, between those 2 choices, I rather listen to neither and enjoy the sound of my engine and exhaust.

Country is too depressing for me
Rap to me is more wide ranging. That an I can relate to alot of the songs stories. Grew up in the hood, sold drugs, dropped out of H.S., been to jail several times, police harassment, gang affiliation, family members in prison, friends shot and killed, blah blah blah..... Glad my life has changed so much

You need to listen to Chatahootchie, Summer's Comin', Something Like That and Red Dirt Road and tell me country's depressing :p
