CounterStrike problem

The few times that I play nowadays I seem to have a problem moving. Occasionally when I press any directional key and release I will continue to move for a few step. I dunno how many times this has gotten me killed. Anyways, anyone else have this problem. I've never had this problem before and it started ever since I installed XP on my machine.

btw....I am running on a PIII 600 with 256MB of Rambus ram (don't ask why, long story) and a GeForce2 GTS w/ 32MB Ram.

are you using the mouse to move and not aim? Maybe it's the mouse acceleration. Kinda like if you scroll really fast, the page will keep scrolling after you let go of the wheel.

hmm.. i think i know what your talking about.. its a weird sliding feeling right?... whenever it happened to me, it was because of lag or packet loss

I'm not using my mouse to move but the usual W, A, S, and D, to move. I thought that it could be lag but it also happens when I am playing a LAN game with Realbots.

Try changing from OpenGL -> Direct3d or Direct3d -> OpenGL.

I had a weird lag movement problem in blueshift before but it was fixed when i switched from Direct3d to OpenGl.

I sometimes have that problem. Rarely though. I've found that when it happens, I go hide somewhere and run up against a wall. Get into a corner where you'll be standing still and try moving a bit. It works for me.

It might depend on the maximum speed and acceleration/decceleration variables on the server. I've played on some servers where, if I run and then stop running, I continue for a few steps (it kind of makes a realistic stopping movement).
