Which mode should I be using when I am playing cs? Are there any differences between the two modes in terms of speed or quality?

You can use either but I would recomend open gl for a 3dfx card. You could also try the 3dfx mini driver that is also available in CS. Best to try all and see which one gives best results.

I'd use 3dfx mini-GL over either.

But of the two use OpenGL, Halflife is based on the Quake2 engine which was OpenGL only, Valve added D3D, but OGL is native to the engine, so I'd use that.

If you use Open-GL you can use Hidden surface removal from the new beta drivers(uncreased FPS)

Now that 3dfx's site is dead, where can I find these beta drivers that supposedly give me more fps with this v3? :)
