Counterstrike: Is it worth picking up now?? or is it too late? I'm buying it, now Which one?

I disagree. CS still has great, unique gameplay. ALthough they still need to make the AWP less powerful, it is truly one of the best games of all time. The graphics really aren't that bad either. Try turning on AA and they look pretty good. plus, I still have a few servers I play on where nobody cheats.

Yeah I still like to play every so often. I would play more often if I had broadband!

Its not so fun when your mates aren't online. But when your mates are then hit up RW and then play it. Great fun or if you are at mates place with a small LAN great fun. I should have 3 computers but definately 2 in the same room as me when move back and change a few things in the summer.

Go play the game.

Find a few or so servers you ping pretty good on, and regular on it. In about 3 months, you'll get a feel for the game and will start developing map-specific strategies. Just keep on practicing and then you'll probably become a decent player.

Heres a 3 step program:

1. Learn to aim.
2. Learn the recoil.
3. Aim for the head.

Figure out those 3, and you're a l33t h4x0rs. GJ!

CS isn't the best game graphic wise, but who plays games just for the graphics? I didn't give a flying fvck about the graphics in ut2003 about 10 min into the game because I was immersed in the gameplay.

And another thing, who the heck buys cs? why not buy hl and download cs and dod and ns?

again, I'm a big StarCraft player. i OBVIOUSLY aren't to hooked on graphics.
 
Try ti for your self. I had to give it up cause it was talking up way too much time... not enough time for neff... errr school.

i've decided. i'm going to go out and buy a copy. NOW, do i buy the Platinum? the half life: counterstrike? Or just Half Life.

I can get Half life for $19.99 at eb games. do i buy that and just download the mods i want?

I was very good at CS back in 2000. No I wasn't the best, but in a large game I'd generally be in the top couple of people and frequently dominated the kill stats entirely, sometimes disgustingly so. It was a sweet game. I haven't tried it since nov 01 and it definitely sucked at that point. Perhaps now cheating, like you say, is not so bad...
 
There's at least one cheater in most online games I played. They use progs to help them see through walls, aim for the opponent's head, etc. It's annoying.

There aren't that many right now, but you should play on Cheating Death enabled servers. Get the client at www.unitedadmins.com.
It's currently the best anti cheat at the moment IMO. There isn't a single public cheat out there that gets past it right now... well.. excluding things like white walls and crosshair hack lol.
 
I grew tired of CS a couple years ago, but if one hasn't played it, they should try it. I had many hours of enjoyment from it. 🙂

If you get HalfLife though, you *must* get Day of Defeat too!
 
Its plenty of fun as long as you have real friends to play with that you know that won't cheat and are on a LAN.
I find playing diablo II over lan quite fun too, only because everyone is on even ground.
 
yeah, i'd get halflife and then DL the mods... I picked it up not that long ago... and now I'm addicted 🙁

Stay far far away... Not because of the cheaters, nor because of the out-dated graphics.. but because of the addicting game play =). Its a great game, and has yet to be beat in my book. Though I don't play games much anymore, Counter-strike is still #1 in my book. I'd go with picking up the regular half life CD and just getting the mods online.
 
download the counterstrike realism update 4.0 and ur graphics will look better🙂 with a game like this u can crank res, use 16x aniscopic and AA if u can handle it🙂

cl_showfps 1 displays fps if typed into console
