I'm running XP Professional on my computer. However, every once in awhile after I play a game of Counterstrike it causes my computer to completely freeze up. It won't let me CTRL+ALT+DEL are even move the mouse. I use GamespyArcade to find and launch games.

It doesn't crash all the time, but every once in awhile it does crash. I've tried changing the compatibility mode of Half Life and CS, to win98/me and windows2000 however, the game won't launch when I have the compatibilty mode turned on.

Can anyone help? Thanks in advance.

A ton of other people have had the same problem under XP, including myself. I've found a temporary solution that works 100% until a permanent fix is found, but it may not work on your machine. What I do is use the command 'quit' in the console to close CS instead of exiting normally. So far I haven't had a single BSOD from doing it this way. You could also try using the command 'exit' if 'quit' still BSODs you. Good luck man, this problem is a PITA.
