Use to play this game YEARS ago. Buddy of mine today called and said he was playing it. Didn't know it worked in Vista or that there is still a big community of players out there. Is this the most active FPS around right now?

Guess for 30 bucks you can't go wrong

I've played for something like 5 years. As I've said, with balanced maps on an admin'd server with a 1 AWP rule, this game is akin in feel to chess which means it just can't get old. I played and dominated BF1942 and BF2 for a while, but bullet lead time really annoys me....as does the constant mad scramble for a vehicle. I also like the rounds in CS:S as opposed to the conquest style of game.....gives more respect for death.

Even recently, playing on Pro servers, I've felt my game elevating even more, so it's one of those skills that just continues to develop.

I always go back to good old CS 1.6 after quitting a game. I don't really like CSS, but the simple graphics and familar maps are like chicken soup for the gamer's soul. I enjoy Gun Game, Deathmatch, and WC3 mods as well.

I actually fired it back up again (I play the Source version though) a couple of nights ago after not playing for a month or two. Still very good times and even busier than I remember it!

Started playing a few months ago (CS:S). Seems like this is all I play now.

Isnt it about time they updated the weapons and things like that?

This game was and still is fun.

I compare this game to poker. Easy to learn but hard to master. Like poker, this game looks easy at first. And the gameplay looks easy, but there are so many subtle nuances you only learn as you play longer and longer.

Another thing is the community is the most brattiest inmature bunch I have ever seen. Ask a question during a game and you'll get 5-6 immature comments. The game is also very hard on newbies.

If you are looking for somewhere to play where immature / annoying people are banned, you should come check out the servers of the clan I'm in. We're 18+ and always have active admins. We just set up a server box in Chicago (a full box, not just rented servers) and everything is up and running other than a few scripts I'm talking to the leaders about putting on the servers.

-69.65.13.66:27015 *Rogue Squadron*|100Tick|Stats|Recruiting|*

-69.65.13.67:27015 *Rogue Squadron*|24/7 DUST2|*

-69.65.13.68:27015 *Rogue Squadron*|ZOMBIE INFECTION 24/7|*

We also have a Ventrilo server at 208.100.3.89:3227, since the game is much better with vocal communication.

I've been playing CS since beta when there were only a couple guns. It's fun as long as you play with mature people who don't run around trying to knife everyone. I've been playing Source for only a few months, but I'm liking it, especially 5v5 scrims and such.

I love this game. I've shifted over to CS:S, which is a little more newbie friendly. Sprays are rewarded with kills more so now than in 1.6 . Personally I can't stand playing maps w/o awps or with awp limits.

CS:S is the only online game I am playing since I got broadband <1 year.
I Play about 2-3 hours a week. I like the way you can just jump in play a few rounds.

I have improved my game to almost a 1:1 kill death ratio, nothing to be proud of but it took me a while to get there.

I may give BF 2142 a chnace since I saw it for $29 at Target lately.

CS:S has saved me a lot of money since I have not bought any new FPS games for the past 6 months. Keep waiting unitl I build my super computer to play the latest games in all there glory.

Peace

lol, comparing CS to chess? wtf?

Very much so. There is a huge aspect of strategy and psychological gamesmanship. If you can't see that, then you aren't getting the most of your play time.....if you play at all.

I completely agree. With some maps its more of a rush or camp situation, but others can be quite intense.

I still play CSS, actually just finished a few rounds not too long ago. It's still fun, but it's getting more difficult to find good servers - where there aren't hackers, people who spam mic, immature kids, etc etc.

I like small maps like Iceworld, Poolday & McDonalds quick rounds. The McDonalds one is kind of interesting even if it's not that great overall. Anyone have a favorite map that's good for small 2x2 games? Pool Day is great.

Hells yeah I'm still playing it. CS is the staple that I will always come back to. (Although I'm praying for the arrival of TF2)
