Let's say half life 2 comes out in two months and you buy it then. You've just lost 2 months of CS Source action. You certainly don't gain anything by waiting. I suppose you'll get to look at more reviews before purchasing, but I suspect you'll buy the game whatever the reviews say. Unless you really want the original disc, I don't see any reason for waiting. I'd like to have an official disc, but I'll get over it.

i play Day of Defeat, i hate CS gameplay, i only play it with my clan, and untill that time, i will just play day of defeat 1

If you buy a package on Steam, does it charge your card then and there? Or is it like pre-ordering a game from EB by only charging your card when the game is actually released? I'd hate to pay my $50 right now for a game that I won't get for a month or two.

They're not going to hand over CS: Source without getting something in return.

Well, it was free to begin with, and technically, it's free still. I see what you're saying, though.

That's like saying "Buy a new car, get four free tires!" You need to hand over money to get CS, whether or not they say you're paying for it doesn't matter, you are.

I know this, but that logic can be applied to anything. You could win the lottery, and have to drive 60 miles to claim your million dollars. You can say it's not free because you had to buy the gas to get there. I say tomato, you say tomatoe.

Hey, I had this problem. Are you using some kind of refresh rate locking program (ie. Refresh Force)? That was the cause of the problem for me. What I did was run reforce again, and clicked on the button to go back to defaults and it worked fine.

The solution that worked for me without killing my refresh rates was going to start-run-dxdiag-more help-override and setting the value to the rate you've forced for 800x600.

Well, just got done playing my first couple of matches, and it runs great. Although the graphics are kind of plain, the textures look pretty good.

Stress test results were very good. I was running at 1600x1200, all details set as high as they can go, with 4xAA/8xAF, and got 77.1 fps. In-game performance with 5.1 surround gives similar smooth performance, although I haven't tested for an approximate reading during gameplay. My basic hardware can be found in my sig.

Interesting to note, that in my very first game, I was accidentally TK'ed within 3 seconds. :D I did get my first kill a couple of matches later with the pistol. Now I just gotta figure out how to get the better guns.......

Anyone have any ideas how to reduce the mouse lag? The mouse kinda floats a bit after you stop moving.

BTW, I think the game engine is remarkable. The interface alone is worth the price of admission. I'm not so sure I like CS much anymore as it attracts some pretty unfriendly players, I wish TFC was included but oh well. I can't wait to play HL2 though!!! :D

runs decent but the hitboxes are horrid. they need to switch to a per pixel or per poly system like d3 has.

I like how the community is building now. It's a new game so people aren't insanely good, which gives everyone a chance, but it's not new in the way that everyone has to learn how to play. One of the reasons I stopped playing CS 1.6 was because most people are so good by now that it seems impossible for me to get a positive kill ratio.
