Counter-Strike: Source Internet Listen Server

Here's the deal: We want to play CS:S with a friend over the internet, but it only lets you set up an internet server if it's dedicated. Listen servers won't even let people connect manually by IP (needs the same class C). Running a dedicated server and a client on the same machine makes for rediculous lag. It's pretty much impossile to play.

You can create a listen server just fine over the internet. You just need to forward the right ports 27015 IIRC to your computer, then they just put in your public IP to connect to you.

It won't let outside IP's connect, though, that's the problem -- says something about LAN servers being restricted to the same class-C.

try sv_lan 0? If you just put that into your autoexec.cfg file in your regular cs:s folder (cfg folder for source-based games, I believe), then it'll automatically execute it whenever you launch CS:S.
