It's probably a lot easier to just buy through Steam and download the games. The premier pack is the best pack compared to the retail packages. You get more for your money. Plus, if you buy retail, you'll have to install using the disks, then authenticate through Steam, then apply all the patches. If you just order and download straight from Steam, it's all streamlined and quicker.

HL2, Counterstrike:Source, and Day of Defeat:Source are all awesome games and well worth it. For $20 each, CS:S and DoD:S are pretty much bargains for how much playing time you'll get out of them. But yeah I like the premier pack/silver pack because you get everything plus their older games on Steam which is quick and easy, plus with 2 clicks you can make backups for burning to cd or dvd.

The retail version of Half-life 2 comes with CS:S (Counter-Strike: Source). "Source" means good graphics. CS:S is the newest version of Counter-Strike to date.

DOD:S (Day of Defeat: Source) is a World War II multiplayer game.

Counter Strike: Condition Zero is a single player game about terrorists and counter-terrorists. It doesn't use the Source Graphics Engine, so Condition Zero's graphics are outdated. It might come with Counter-Strike, the original multiplayer, but with the older graphics.
