specs are as follows:

asus nforce mobo

onboard graphics disabled

video card: visiontek geforce 3

sound: onboard dolby digital sound 5.1

ram: 256 mb pc2100 crucial ddrsdram

hdd: ibm 60gxp

why is cs running so slow? like when i open the program up, it loads really slow. is this normal?

also, when i try to download maps it takes forever and a day. im already on broadband. why is this happening? can anyone help me out and send me all the maps in a zip? that would own, thanks.

it could possibly be your RAM, so if i was having that problem, i would go out and buy some crucial RAM, and switch it out with the
RAM that you have in there now. That's usually the cheapest and simplest place to start.

does this only happen with cstrike? or with everything else?

i already stated i have a stick of crucial in my puter now. why would i want to go out and switch my perfectly good stick of crucial ram for another stick of crucial ram? makes no sense if you ask me.

CPU? (if VIA, did you install the 4in1s?)
OS? (2K, XP, do you have the refresh rate fix?)

What's your FPS? (cl_showfps 1 in the console)
