ok, today I was playing cs when it started lagging really badly, I had a 60 ping, and was getting 85fps constant, but it was really laggy, and everyone was telling me they could see me lag, I restarted my computer, restarted my router and dsl modem, I defragged my hdd and ran a virus scan, no go, it will play fine for like 5 minutes then all of a sudden I can tell it is lagging, I can't buy anything, when I type a message and hit enter it never shows up, I don't know what the problem is, any of you guys got an idea?

tbird 1.2ghz @ 1.2ghz
visiontek gf2 ultra 64 meg
hercules GTXP
seagate cheetah 10krpm 18gb (for windows, and programs)
maxtor 45gb 7200 rpm (for data storage)
a 50x cd-rom
and a 10X8X32 cd-rw
I am running windows 98 se.
 
Probably an issue with your connection, you should do a traceroute to the server you are talking to, you might be getting routed a long way.
Is you ping staying fairly constant at 60?
 
the server is 3-4 miles from my place, it is constant 60 ping (even with a full server) I'm not losing packets, I'm not running zonealarm, I formatted this drive and did a reinstall, dunno if it fixed the problem yet (haven't gotten cs back up) thanks for the ideas tho
