Counter Strike -- HOW DO I GET INTO A GAME?

i just bought counter strike and i cant get into any games. it says something about wrong protocol!!!!!! HELP!

You have to go to Counterstrike.net and download the updates for it.

Well you have to have the cd key to play online. They just sell a version that has counterstrike bundled with halflife.

I played it since beta 6 and had my own server for 6 months until I got sick of the cheating, and every upgrade made the game worse. So yes, I played it for over 2 years.

You've got to be joking me... I've personally been on servers that do ban cheaters have all of the above there but there are still cheaters... Other times ppl that are generally really really good get banned for no reason because ppl think they are cheating.

agreed. Thats why I quit. Cheaters ruined the game. If you think no one is cheating you need to open up your eyes a bit.

Ok well i guess the servers i play on do not represent the other 80000 servers. You just have to find a good server or servers and stick with it/them. That way you know which ones are good.

you can buy half-life and get counterstrike free online, or you can just buy counterstrike the retail version, and you'll be downloading the retail patch.

after you dl the newest patch, just go onto Internet Games and click "Update List" and then sort through games (if you just want counterstrike games, filter that out)

pick one with a lot of green dots (low ping) servers

I'm not quite sure about the exact names - Internet Games might be something else - haven't played CS in ages
