I have just starting playing Counter Strike in the last couple-o-months. I have gotten to the point now that I am good enought to know that I really suck at it. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can keep me a$$ from getting smoked so often? :disgust:

1. Always buy small armour

2. Never buy any guns

3. Buy granades if you want

so your goal is to stay alive untill you find a weapon to fight with, you learn to stay alive like this.

One interesting suggestion is to play with cheaters. Especially those with wall hacks or aimbots. Usually these players don't have much skill, however their cheats gives them extra accuracacy and makes them seem better. If you can compete well with them (without cheating), you should dominate in normal play. After playing with cheaters, normal play seems so much easier.

dont rush out to so the other team can kill ya.. hehe. used to do that. follow your teammates and observe how they play and back them up.. other than that.. yeah, practice practice practice.

<< 2. Never buy any guns >>

my advise would be...
get a faster internet connection.

having 40-50 ms ping really helps to fight against people with 150+ ms ping.

or if you dont wanan be a pussy :), get full armor and gun that you can shoot well (my pics - m4, benelli, ak) and go nail some people.
Always jump the corners, if theres someone waiting, you'll have the moment of suprise. In case of close combat (you run into someone),
always duck while shooting. always keep moving and jump around, jumping people are harder to shoot. for distance shots again ducks,
youll be more accurate. Oh yeah move side to side if youre shooting someone and use the environement and/or hostages :) as your shields.
Be smart, if you see someone killed in front of you, dont go the same exact way. The the other route and get them from back. Same thing when youre outgunned,
the worst thing is to run like crazy, cuz if theres 4 people waiting, theyll cap yo ass. Again try getting them from back. Recon strategies always work. One more thing, listen to footsteps. If tyou hear someone comming, hide somewhere/ stand by the door. They wont even know where it came from.

play all the levels over and over again...T amd CT. Increase your mouse sensitivity, tweak it if necessary for max fps, and get a better internet connection.

CS 0wn5, keep working at it. you'll eventually develop your own playing style and everything will be ok. Then you'll be glad you didn't quit. :)

One of the most important things is USE SOUND. When used properly, you can tell exactly where guys are coming from, if they are multiple #'s and such. It's almost as good as wall hack once you get good at it. ;)

as a newbie playing with cheaters...u r prolly more tempted to ask them for the cheat than to keep playing with them. ur better off playing with ppl who are really good. they might have some real tips and advice for u. i've been playing for about a year now, and i still suck. every once in a while, i will have a decent game...meaning i have an even death:kill ratio :p if i do have a trick or tip...i would say...buy a fb...throw it around a corner...and then run out and kill kill kill!!! try not to get shot tho. hahaha :D

yeah, sound is crucial.. i remember when i started playing cs for like a month.. and someone was talking about footsteps.. i was like, "What footsteps? I cant hear it".. c, i had my volume just enough to hear the gun shots, but once i turned up the volume pretty high, their they were.. so either turn your speaker volume high, or if you dont want to scare the neighbors and get visits from the cops, get some headphones.. :)

nothing in particular, but it sucks when all the n00bs are on one team... then they complain that the other team is cheating..

Newbies that see you have a score like 28-6 or so and they stick to your butt trying to stay alive and make noise at bad times or block your path of retreat... AKA getting me stuck out in the line of fire and killed.... example: I strife out to look down a hallway see the whole T team coming down it I start firing and strifing back to my safe spot out of danger but wait there is a noob there blocking me out in the steel rain of death... GOD I HATE THAT!!!!!!!

Guys that camp. I don't mind them sucking, but I hate it when they draw out the round as everyone else is waiting. Hmm... Oh yea, backup that sucks. If I go aroudn a corner and die, I expect to be avenged!! For example, today... Dust two and I'm CT. I go up through bomsite A and cross to the middle. I take out 2 T's that are coming my way and head back to guard the bombsite since I see on my radar that there aren't any other Ct's that way. A guy follows me back. I get to the ledge above spawn, jump down, and head towards B. A T rounds the corner behind me and kills me. He then continues my way. The CT that followed me does nothing and is soon killed by a different T.

Oh my god! I hate grenade spammer. Like on office. 3-4 guys are in the hostage room and 2 with ak's as the other just spams out nades.

I use to own at counterstrike till I left school (not to brag but several times I took out entire teams after my whole team had died and I was starting with no armor and a handgun). Now I have a crappy 56k connection and I tried it a few times but it always disconnects me, so no CS for me. But you don't care about that, so here's some stategies that work for me:

1) In the beginning of the round its ok to run to whichever position you want to take, but after that you should walk EVERYWHERE cause they can hear your footsteps. Only exceptions should be when you want to rush in on hiding enemies or if you need to run across a corridor to avoid being an easy target.

2) Always crouch when you shoot. Learn to immediately hit the crouch button as soon as you see an enemy. Crouching greatly increases accuracy.

3) Always aim for the head. You'll end up having a better aim, and you'll be hitting them in the head!

4) Learn the AK-47 and the CT's silenced gun (can't remember its name, but use it without the silencer) - they are the 2 most powerful.

5) When you die, watch enemy tactics. Eventually you will learn trends that most sh*tty players do on maps all the time, like hiding places, routes, etc. And you'll know how to be ready and counter them.

6) Learn & remember the maps.

7) If there's noone on your team left or very few people, I see no problem getting a nice sniping position till you even out the odds (although most people will bitch and call it camping.)

8) Travel in groups, and rush key positions. If your teammates want to all do their own thing, yell at them until they cooperate. If they don't cooperate, leave the server and find one that isn't full of retards.

9) Listen for footsteps - wear headphones because it's much more distinct that way, you can tell where people are and ambush them... also pay attention to your radar so you know if its your teamates.

10) Be ready to switch to your handgun if you're in at close range - when both people run out of ammo on their primary weapon, you'll have the advantage while the other idiot's reloading.

That's all I can think of right now, but 10 is a nice, round number.

1) people who don't know the objectives of the map. Example: T's who have the bomb yet refuse to plant it.

2) campers

3) idiots who kick me off their server because they think i cheat. (is it even possible to see thru walls??? i was accused of that twice)

here's another suggestion i forgot to say:

when you use the machine guns, tap the mouse button. Don't hold it down because the recoil makes you miss. If you tap it you will be on target much more.

The only thing that really pisses me off is when people call me, or anyone else good, a cheater. I don't mind camping, cuz that's part of the game. deal with it.

Oh yeah, another good tip is to SPAM. SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM. It can make a big difference. For instance, if you see someone pop out from one side, spam that wall consistently. odds are, you're hitting him. just don't let him pop out again and get a lucky HS on you...........lol. ;)

Oh yeah, and another thing that pisses me off is when people say they're really good at CS. gawd, I hate those people..........

Master the art of burst-firing and try to improve your reaction time. Also, learn to be proficient with the high damaging guns. Always try to aim the chest or head.
