Counter Strike every 10 seconds.....

ok, ive pinned it down, in CS, either version, every 10 seconds, my framerate drops from 100 down to about 30 for 1.5 seconds, this is really annoying, and id like to know how to fix it! I have my gfx card UNoCED and back to normal, but why in the world does it keep doing this?!?!?!
 
A lot of cs players have been having this problem with patch 1.6. Most like if you played 1.5 nothing would be wrong.
I've seen people with specs like (2.8Ghz 1Gig pc2700 Radeon 9800 Pro); drop in fps from like 100 to 30. They say they can run around and it'll be good fps but when they see someone or a smoke nade appears it just drops.

But, with other people it's just as perfect as it can be.

I just hope when my computer finally gets built it will run it fan with no drops 🙁

That could be it too... I don't play 1.6 cause it's even more silly than 1.5... but I have tried it and had no problems. If this problem is happening on a regular schedule like your post says, then it sounds like a brackground app. interrupting. If it's just ABOUT every 10 seconds, it could be what Jsongz said.
 
this happens to me in 1,5 and 1,6 and theres no vsync option in 1,6 as far as i know. What should i do to determine if there is a backround thing going on, like, run spybot, or what?
 
Bring up the task manager with ctrl+alt+del and look at the processes tab for a process that's using a higher percentage of CPU time. If you find something, use spybot and/or ad-aware to remove spyware. Also make sure you don't have stuff like AIM and Yahoo and Quicktime and RealPlayer running...
 
yeah, i did all that, i ran ad aware, got rid of stuff, and shut down all proccesses i knew i did not need, and still EVERY TEN SECONDS my FPS drops from 100 to 32, WHY WHY WHY?!
 
yeah, i tried everything, and still EVERY TEN SEC, ON THE DOT it lags mad style, i really wanna know a solution, would formatting my HD fix it?
 
ya it is most likely still something running in the background and a format would most defenatly get rid of that.

oops sorry if this doubles but fix maybe to get rid of your crappy made models, and turn down your settings a bit...
counter strike engine is old...

Just wait till hl2 comes out and they make cs mod it will be the bomb. Updated engine,...
