counter-strike benchmarking

I really want to benchmark CS since its the only game that I play and I'd really like to see how different settings affect its performance.

now, I know that, like the q2 engine it was based on, CS uses "timedemo" to record its speed, but I don't have any .dem files and I can't find any online (for v1.1 anyways)

Anyone know a good .dem demo file to benchmark with? I'd really like to do this.

I'm really not worried about performance. I play in 800x600 with 2x2 fsaa on, and i never see below 50fps, but thats not my problem.

I really just wanna benchmark to see what kind of effect things have on the game's performance.

Plus I'm sick of 3dmark2000, it really isn't too useful to me these days. (and I've read far too much about how 2001 scores are all messed up...)

My gf2 mx at 1280x960 never drops below 60(doesnt go higher either, stupid 60fps bug), all settings max

Do you have Vsync disabled? Do you have a MaxFPS of 60 in your config file? My MaxFPS is set to 75 on my V3 3500. It rarely dips below 60 at 1024x768. Grenades and smokes can make me do 40 though.

in win2k their is a preset refresh rate, and you need to get a program to raise the refresh so it can go higher.

You guys may want to try this...while playing pull down you console and type &quot;timerefresh&quot; This will show you your true framrate. I usually get 120 to 180 FPS this way using a GF2MX.
Also try this in console:
max_fps 99

This will move the max FPS to 99(highest setting via HL engine)
