so how do you guys predict the value of current gen (2008-2009) GM's if they were to be sold by private party? would they increase or decrease? i'm not talking about special edition limited quality vehicles, the ones that sell the most.

how would they ever increase?

the only car i might expect to increase in value is the Solstice Coupe. with pontiac's death, the coupe is gone forever, unless GM revives it at some point.

so, who's hoping for CH11 instead of bending over for the current administration? it's a sad day when you're doing that 🙁

by increase i meant, increase in resale value as compared to GM not going out of business.

why would it be a sad day? firms go out of business every day. its about survival of the fittest, and they're NOT fit for america

It's a sad day if tens of thousands are jobless and now need public assistance, not to mention the personal hardships they will be going through. Pull you walnut-sized brain out of your ass and think about someone else, lumnut.

This isn't P&N; you don't need that last sentence so let's try to avoid personal attacks in the future, OK?

Nice troll thread

how is it a troll thread?

i read about a June1 deadline for GM, and i was wondering what needed to be completed by june1.
Anyone who's been here for any length of time knows your modus operandi Lois. I don't know what's worse, the thread itself, or you denying your intentions.
This isn't a troll thread (yet), but LOUISSSSS had a bad reputation and it takes a while to change that perception . . . just like GM.

That doesn't make sense.

They're not going to jump up except for maybe a few vehicles that will no longer be available, like the Solstice and and G8. Otherwise I would expect things to stay more or less the same.

i see. i'm predicting that the solstics/g8 will drop fast like normally just that the other (more popular) ones will drop faster than usual since service centers will be gone. prices for parts will be higher. less people will want a car from a bankrupted company, rather they will want a (used) car from some that's around. or maybe one of those "new" GM's

so with today's latest developments, what exactly is happening with GM's predicted BK on monday? i read one article on autoblog stating that a majority of shareholders agreed to the government's terms, but an article posted later on autoblog said GM was going to declare BK on monday.

the government has no business trying to run a company. congress can't even run itself well, let alone an organization that *requires* a positive cash flow and can't float debt indefinitely (which i believe will completely fuck us one day, when china and whoever else decides we should pay up)

i really want GM to stay free from government ownership.

then GM would've been gone for good before they asked for the bailout. ya know.. like how that cell phone shop recently closed down?

where would GM be w/o those billions of dollars that they were lent?

huh? bankrupt huh?

more than likely they would have declared Chapt 11 anyway, which is restructuring. Chapt7 is complete liquidation, IIRC. the loans simply delayed the inevitable AFAIK (not that i know the ins and outs of the situation)

so after June 1, what can we expect? since CNN along with all other news/media seem to think Bankruptcy is for sure.

-can we expect that deals still sell cars in 2009?
-what about into 2010?

No, all dealers will immediately close doors and cease selling all GM product, remaining inventory will be destroyed in bonfire..

i hope you're not serious

GM is expected to cut more dealers on monday though, IIRC

I believe they must liquidate their inventory, not sell them like they normally would. That being the case, competing dealers would bid on allocations and re-sell the cars themselves.

IIRC, i saw a Chrysler Ad recently (this past week) saying that the memorial day sale is still going on. was i being crazy? Chrysler still has dealers open? i haven't seen a single one open since for the past month.

+ chrysler's website is still up
