You have to consider the question of "how do you adapt a book like that"? It's such an amazing book, and nothing short of an epic oscar winning film would do it decent justice.
I liked the movie.. which was rather a happy one. I heard that in the book he loses his wife and kid at the cost of his revenge. That's would've been a kickass ending leaving the audiences with heartache
In the book he leaves his wife and child. Never saw the movie....but usually they try to make it a happy ending. People like closure, you know the "money shot"...its in every movie....
Butchered my favorite Dumas book. IMO a worse book adaptation than The Beach (remember that one? I feel sorry for Garland because anyone who saw the moview first will never read the book).
I agree. I am an avid reader and it is really difficult to make me turn away from a good book, but I got bored about 4/6 through the book. Argh, I gotta go back and finish it though
i thought it was a terrible adaptation of the book - too happy on the ending, thats what was so great about the book - it wasn't so sappy and happy at the end.
although i do agree, to do the book real justice, it would take an epic of a movie
