Couldn't figure out why 1 of my Titans banged in Device Manager

Then I looked over at my case window.... I didn't plug the damn power in to the second GPU! After that, I just had remove from device manager and add it back. Now we're playin with power!

just a random thought. thought maybe someone else would have said the same thing happened to them. pardon me. i'll move on.

i did that awhile back with my xfire 6970s! i was cursing to high heavens and even reseated the cards in different slots while still forgetting the damn cable! then face palmed when it finally dinged! 🙂
 
Mine is usually forgetting to connect the power switch to the motherboard and spending a bunch of time checking everything else before I realize I never plugged in the power switch. God I hate those stupid little pin headers.
 
Remember the old pre-ZIF sockets? Friend of mine has some old 386/486 boards and I was shocked to see that there was no lockout mechanism for insertion. Wasn't it possible to insert CPUs backwards? I guess that wouldn't be a good day 😳

How are those bad boys doing now in SLI? Two Titans in SLI is Super SLI. 3 or 4? UBER SLI!:awe:

I did not design these cards, so I can't say anything, but it really shouldn't matter. There should be enough current suppression built in to handle any instantaneous load... as long as you don't plug it in backwards nothing should happen.
 
From the wording it sounded like you noticed it was unplugged when the PC was on, reached over and plugged it in, and then messed with device manager.

maybe it only happens when it's the primary GPU? definitely didn't have any type of alarm. the green letters even lit up without the pcie power, so that's why i didn't even notice it.
