Could you date/marry someone who is smarter than you?

If they were that smart, they probably wouldn't marry me. So, while I might be tempted, I'm pretty sure I'll never find out for sure.

I might have a problem initially (I am very competitive) but I would get over it.

Currently my wife is better at math and spanish while I am better at english (reading and writing wise) and science

I certainly couldn't be with someone much stupider than I

I don't comprehend. Isn't science just applied math?

Yeah. In every relationship that ever was, one person was dumber than the other. It's unavoidable. I guess I'd be just as happy on one end of that stick as the other.

my wife is smarter then me, and i have no problem with that. she's a dvm, and her science knowledge far outweighs any tech, car, sports or other knowledge i may have. she also makes more money then me, and thats cool too.

In December 2008, Entertainment Weekly ranked Salma Hayek number 17 in their list of the "25 Smartest People in TV.

Let me make this perfectly clear. I would have no problem marrying this smart babe.

I'm currently dating someone who is smarter than me (at least in terms of numbers, which is the only thing that matters on ATOT). She's cute and funny too, so I'm happy. 🙂

my wife is smarter than me...

she has 3 degrees to my 0 🙁

if shes so smart whys she with you😀 😉

anyways smarts is of no relevance, many "smart" people are retards, look at the economic disaster we are in because of "smart" idiots. many "smart" people can be dicks. there are other qualities that matter.

My wife scored a 36 in the Math section of the ACT. I did not.

But I can pee standing up. So that's a win for me.

Someone smarter than me? In a heartbeat.

I could actually hold a meaningful conversation on any topic, something I love doing but most people I have to pick and choose topics to discuss since I eventually go over their head if I wander into other territory.

I scored a 35 in reading.
I fail to see how that was something I should see as an accomplishment. But alas, it seems that is no common, and is a near perfect score on a topic, so that made me happy. 😀
Everything else was decent, think I got a 32 in Science or something.

Opinions vary. 😎

According to pure statistics however, there aren't many...and the fact that I'm pretty much hetero cuts even that number roughly in half. Only 10% of the country has even a single graduate degree, which is roughly equivalent to where I'm at education wise. That's a pretty good pool to draw from. If we use IQ, however, it's such a ridiculously small number as to render it highly unlikely to ever happen. Hence my desire for an online site specializing in it.

Well, there is one thing I'm sure of...and it's that you are quite full of yourself.

Well...she did go on to slap the letters "Dr." in front of her name too. So she has that going for her, which is nice.

as long as i was roughly on the same level to appreciate their stuff, i think so, yeah. my roommate and i talk about our college work all the time, but we're different majors. we're still able to appreciate what each other do, i think.

In what? If you don't mind me asking.

Doctorate is great regardless, but interested in where she is applying her Math skills.
Math, what I once considered to be my best subject, was my lowest ACT score (mid to upper twenties, cannot remember exact number). After my more advanced Algebra courses, my head gave up on the notion of enjoying Math, ceased to care, and ceased understanding.
I am great with basic Algebraic math, but above that (trig, calc, and above)... not so much.
