Could video card have damaged monitor?

My Acer X241W (28 months total) just died, after a slow (2-3 months) degradation (appeared to be an overheating problem, uncertain). The degradation began 3-4 months after I installed an eVGA GTX 260 216. Is there any possibility that the eVGA could have somehow harmed the Acer? Thanks.
