Could use some tire advice

OK, so I have narrowed my tire search down to 2 brands and could use your guys' opinion.

The Nitto NT555. They are a summer only performance tire, which is what I am after.

or

The Micheling Pilot Sport A/S3 which is an All-Season tire.

The Nitto tires are proving to be EXTREMELY hard to find. I do like the Michelins but I am worried they won't have the feel of a summer only tire.

I am coming off Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar and don't want them back.

Advice on both tires? My tire size(s) are odd and not many options available.

IMO, GY F1 Supercar tires turn to crap so fast that the Michelin A/S tires may not feel like you are giving up that much. Are your current tires runflats by chance? The ones on my last Corvette probably rate as some of the worst tires that I've ever owned.

I would also check out the Continental ExtremeContact DW as I had two sets on my CTS-V and liked them a lot. Not as good as the Michelin SS but much easier to find in the sizes I needed.

Michelin tires have become like blonde women.... great when new but not only do they age quickly, they age poorly as well. I can't tell you how many Michelin tires I've seen with weather cracking after only like 2-3 years, and I'm not the only one reporting this. Yet if you can find yourself a Michelin tire made before like 2005, they're usually in pretty good shape. I have no idea what Michelin did to their formula but it's extremely prone to weather cracking/checking now. I think Michelin tires are only acceptable if you think you're going to replace them within like 3-4 years and your car is garaged or something. I've got tires from other brands that have been sitting in the sun for almost 10 years and they still look brand new while the Michelins look like they're 50 years old.

Fortunately they are not run flats. I have heard they are even worse than the non run flats.

If you call them up, they can special order you anything. You don't have to rely upon what they list on their website if you're so inclined. They also price match as well with other retailers such as tirerack.com, etc.

They have been the cheapest by far anyways. Tirerack doesn't offer Nitto it appears

You try calling the place I get all mine? They're usually the cheapest and are willing to special order. Plus they outfit a lot of Autocross cars so they tend to have more performance oriented tires available or at least deal with them more often.

Big +1 on that. I'm a huge fan of continental as they have very cost effective tires that still have a major brand behind it. Design wise they tend to make a more streetable tire than if you were choosing a tire for autocross or a track day, but I have enjoyed all their stuff on many of my cars. Only on Yokohama S.drives now because I needed a tire that day and it was the only reasonably priced summer in stock locally. DW would have been my first choice otherwise.

Weird model choices. For a summer performance tire (no track use) in your sizes, I'd get the Conti DW. Cheap, light, rides well, outstanding wet performance, good enough dry performance.

You may be able to use a drop shipper if it's worth it to you. I sold an HTC Windows 7.5 phone to a person in Costa Rica through them (the buyer told me to simply ship to a certain address in Florida with their routing # on the address label).

I had some Goodyear GS-D3s on my cammed 04 GTO. They were okay, great handling tire, not so great at launching.

Tire sizes are listed a few posts down and I am not looking at Goodyears. OP was basically anyone with experience on the Nitto or the Michelin....

Anyways, I have exhausted the search for the Nitto tires and will probably end up with the Continental Extreme Contact DW. The Yokohama's are a little on the pricey side for the driving I do.

285/40-18 tires are basically drag radials. What kind of car is this??? You can't use drag radials for a daily driver....
