The newer Sun workstations absolutely suck! They're cheaply made, and don't last more then 6 months. Throw in APC ups's and Sony monitors that also last about 6 months, and you have one hell of a bill.

If you need to service thousands of the same task a second, Niagara should shine. If you want to crunch huge databases, wait for Rock.
according to me i think the 'rock' processor will be a better cruncher.

On a macro level, it will have eight cores, each core capable of running 4 threads in parallel, for 32 concurrently running threads. Each thread can be a process, or you can have one process running 32 threads, it is up to you.
as seti cannot be broken into 32 threads, we can theoritically run 32 instances at a time :D

Each Niagara core is said to be at least as powerful as a current UltraSPARC 3 chip.
any idea how much will i wu take on a UltraSPARC 3 chip??
