could this be my HD?

I recently bought a new 80 gig Western Digital ATA-100 HD. I used norton ghost to clone the data off my 40 gig Western Digital ATA-100 onto the new drive. Now most of my compressed archives have CRC errors and wont unpack. Why? The archives on the old dirve are still fine! How do I torubleshoot this to locate the source of the errors? I dont seem to have any other problems with my system in terms of data loss, and everything runs fine... I now boot off the new drive and there hasnt been any problems yet. Any help on why my transfer of files failed would be greatly appreciated (before i used norton ghost I tried to simply transfer all 40 gigs through windows explorer but I got same problems- CRC errors appear in archives).

If everything else works fine (OS, programs, etc) it doesn't sound like a problem with the disk to me. It sounds more like a software error somewhere. I had a virus a few months ago that would infect self-extracting archives in a way that prevented them from working. This might be something similar.
